Marketing your business is really just about setting out your stall and shouting about it. Like they do down the market. The questions I am asking my public relations and marketing clients at Edwards Creative Media right now is whether they feel the stall is ready, what are they going to shout and how are they going to amplify their voice?

ecmsig Spring into Action: time to shed the Winter blues.This Easter is a turning point for the year. Although it still feels like Winter, Spring time started last week. And perversely, British Summer Time begins next week. Too long a winter means that too many people you do business with have had the bunker mentality for months now.

They’ve been hunkering down, concentrating on getting through it. We’re still cave dwellers in a lot of ways. Huddling together against the elements, keeping warm. Surviving on the riches of the summer. But we need to be preparing and thinking about the days ahead. Making plans to make hay while the sun shines.

Right now, it feels like this Winter has been going on forever – or maybe since October, 2011, anyway.

But there is a brighter day around the corner and once the sun comes out, it’s only human that people will begin to feel a little more adventurous. And they’ll again be buying the stuff they’ve been putting off buying. You need to be in there, ready to sell. The task for small business is that they should be prepared for the brighter day. And they shouldn’t be left behind by those who’ve done more preparation.
